Finished Iliad. Love it for its historicity, the mythical pantheon, and the ethereal setting of ancient days. Not super interested in war literature though, which was the entire book, so the Iliad didn't grip me as much as other novels can. And again, very tedious with the great multitude of the minor one-off Greek characters scattered through: it is simply impossible to retain the mental coherence of them all.

As I had imagined, the Iliad is fairly tedious with respect to the enormous cast of obscure and minor Greek characters sprinkled throughout every page, but one can still follow the thread of the plot by the major characters and gods. Poetic metaphors abound as well—a nice touch. Almost finished.
