since most of the danmei i read digitally, i use acrobat or apple books and you can highlight and make notes there as you go. for physical copies i just put sticky tabs and underline what i need and write on the side of the page if the space allows for it :D

^ I'm similar! I like to buy physical copies and highlight in them. I don't write notes, but highlighting my favorite parts helps me remember what stood out to me later. I think it's a good way to appreciate what's in each volume individually!

I tend to not take notes, but just instead highlight (kindle) parts of the book. Physical books I’ll tab, but that’s only if I’m really enjoying the book. Lastly, I only mark books with pencil if it’s a reread of a book I loved
