In adulthood before his prophethood, the Prophet ﷺ was ‘distinguished among his ppl for his modesty, virtuous behaviour and graceful manners. He proved to be the ideal of manhood, and to possess a spotless character. He was the most obliging to his compatriots, the most honest in his talks and the mildest in temper. He was the most gentle-hearted, chaste and hospitable. He was the most truthful and the best to keep a convent.’
At 40 years old, Muhammad ﷺ first received revelation from the Angel Gabriel in the Cave of Hira. Three years of secret call followed, with early converts being those close to him. Khadijah, the Prophet’s wife, was the first to enter the fold of Islam. The Prophet ﷺ was then commanded to preach to his ppl his message.
