something that i found very interesting was the brief mention in chapter 6 about how the zionists broke down the class consciousness and worker solidarity that the arabs and jews had in palestine. just shows that from the start of the zionist movement it was motivated atleast partially by capitalist interests

the zionists consistently carried out offensive attacks including on women and children even explicitly saying they didn’t care if women and children were caught in the cross fires. they had settler attacks and unauthorized attacks onto arab communities which were publicly denounced by zionists then privately encouraged and systematized.
the entire lead up to the nakba zionists were pulling teeth trying to force a violent arab resistance to the occupation. while there were arab attacks they were not enough to justify their goals of ethnic cleansing
the UN illegally gave the zionists permission to establish a jewish state in Palestine. allowing them to have i believe it was 56% of palestine. the problem for the zionists was that the population of those areas would make jews a minority. so they set their aims on ethnically cleansing Arabs from palestine. they quickly wanted the entire palestine. not just the 56% the UN allowed
