The book has slightly improved now that I am (hopefully) out of bridge territory, but for some reason the writing reminds me of when you’re sitting through a presentation and the presenter uses really big and fancy words all the time when it’s really clear that they are clearly using those words to add legitimacy to their work and make their point seem more clever than it really is because the words are big

i’m sorry mom. i couldn’t make it to 23%. i started skimming through it to even see if the writing goes anywhere and to me it didn’t. i just can’t see myself getting through this.

So far I’m not enjoying this at all. I’m not a fan of her writing style and there are too many sections about how the bridges in Seattle are too structurally unsound. I’m going to stick to my mom’s rule where you have to give a book until your age in pages (in my care, percentage) to give it up. Considering I’m 23 now, that’s a lot harder than when I was a kid…
