Currently reading: yep, you guessed it, another Franzen novel. I caved... anyways I'm about 250 pages in and I had a thought I'd like to get down to kickoff the review of this one. Clearly, Marion from CROSSROADS is Franzen's highest achievement in character. It's the result of his perfecting cynicism. Marion is peak Franzen cynicism. I can see inchoate strokes of Marion in SM's Renée. Anyway. That's all for now.
