"My hair has grown long and in the morning I go into town to have it cut. I feel lighter once I have seen my hair fall onto the floor under the chair. That is something I have lost, I tell myself, my hair and my hope. That is hair that Thomas has touched. It falls to the floor and is swept up. Now I have only eighteenth of November hair on my head."
