I enjoyed this book because I looked at this as historical fiction with some horror elements. If you like historical fiction and would like to dip your toe into horror, this one might be for you. However the author took liberties it seems most people, myself included, found uncomfortable with the motivations of the actual historical individuals from the Donner Party. If that makes you uncomfortable maybe skip it this one.

I can see some of that, for sure. Definitely can be brought up in discussion!
