The tungumatur are so creepy! The way Gwynne describes them in this book has me picturing them perfectly and what I imagine brain-eating amoebas would be like in nightmare form.

Elvar, who hates the tainted , teaming up, unknowingly, with some of the most powerful tainted , has me wondering if these new comrades might be the push she needs to have a change of heart and mind towards the tainted .

Myrk glared at Halja. 'Call my father a nioing again and I'll kill you,' she snarled.
'He was a nioing and died squealing," Halja said, her face flat and emotionless as a cliff.

John Gwynne, hands down, writes the best fight scenes I have ever read. I truly have never been able to perfectly picture the movements, attacks, and true strength portrayed within this book.

I'm obsessed with Tolka; she's such a badass warrior, the perfect mother, and is the ultimate wife/defender. She's such an animal, in a good way, and I would be petrified to end up on her bad side. I admire her a lot and nothing better happen to her

Still devouring every chapter, I read. Really hoping Orka finally gets her vengeance in this book.

I appreciated the breakdown of the characters in the beginning; there are quite a lot so it's nice to see them all listed and described to help the reader refresh before diving into book 2

Definitely should’ve double checked my pronunciation of some of these Viking type names a while ago.
