i appreciate taking this in smaller bites, since it’s a collection of interrelated interviews and speeches. i think this cuts the repetition, which itself is necessary to an extent

extremely relevant to the present moment. we need connection, at home and across the globe.
BUT reading this also feels all the more depressing in a post-2016 world because just how little has improved (or even worsened). “it is in collectivities that we find reservoirs of hope and optimism,” but it seems like we’re so much more isolated and fearful now than we were then.
