The yearning, the tension, the “transition” and what it may mean? OOF. If you’re looking for complex world building this book is for you.

Yall when I tell you the lore is DEEP, I mean I had to get out the good notes app to take notes bc wow this is A LOT. It’s a bit overwhelming at times, and I’m still not sure what it all means. But I am here for the ride!

I’m completely enthralled. The lore runs SO deep. I’m highlighting my ass off! The magical abilities are so interesting and unique. Again, the world building and the lyrical prose?! Phenomenal. And it’s a very fresh take on vampirism, that I’m absolutely loving!

The prose in this book is haunting me, in the best way. If you love Rachel Gillig’s work, you’ll absolutely love this book.
“But memories had teeth, and they sank deep when I least expected it, dragging me backwards into moments I thought I buried.”
“Our eyes locked and my lungs forgot their purpose. His gaze churned like Milton gold, the outer tint darkening to bronze.”
“Hello, little dove.”

I was immediately hooked from the prologue. The writing style is lyrical, beautiful, and haunting. The world building is phenomenal. This feels like a character driven plot and I’m so here for it. I’m already obsessed, and I can’t believe this is the authors debut!
