I can't get over the way Leigh writes of the Darkling. I keep remembering why I fell for him years and years ago!

Then the smile disappeared, replaced by something I didn't recognize, something that looked almost like longing.
"Mercy." He said the word as if he were tasting something unfamiliar. "I could be merciful."

"What do you two talk about, anyway?" I asked curiously. I still didn't quite understand Genya's fascination with the Fabrikator.
She sighed. "The usual. Life. Love. The melting point of iron ore."

The way I still, forever and always, love Genya with David. The! Way!

"What are you smiling at?"
I whirled, peering into the gloom. The Darkling's voice seemed to float out of the shadows. He walked down to the stream, crouching on the bank to splash water on his face and through his dark hair.
"Well?" he asked, looking up at me.
"Myself," I admitted.
"Are you that funny?"
"I'm hilarious."

The boy was short and stocky, shy but always smiling. The girl was different, and she knew it.

It feels (more than a little) emotional and soooo special to be back, so if I got tears in my eyes I am not to be blamed, okay?! 🖤

So BASICALLY everything has gone to hell by now but the fact that at least Genya is with Alina once more is giving me life. I pretty much live for tortured ships and friendship goals!

Me: shippping The Darkling and Alina SO.HARD (even tho I've been warned!)
Me: scrumbles through the pages to find another ship
Me: "IF YOU ARE THERE I WILL FIND YOU!"

50 pages later, David is being mentioned, Genya is swooning and "I FOUND YOU" I shout as I craddle this newly found baby ship in my arms and I'm rocking it gently!

But seriously, CAN SOMEONE SHAKE SOME SENSE INTO DAVID?! CAUSE! *GENYAAAA*

"Genya,'' the Darkling called after us,'' the kefta will be black."

*whispers* "my feels are ALIIIIIIVE..."
Genya is my favourite thing, Alina is the next best thing and The Darlking is my everything! And YES at my fangirling peaks I rhyme!

-Alina, lying on the hillside, one step away from being stabbed by a Fjerdan soldier.
-The Darling comes to her rescue ON A HORSE (can you see me flailing) in all of his charcoal glory.
-They ride TOGETHER to the Little Palace.

Me: MY FEELS ARE ALIIIIIIVE WITH THE SOUND OF GRISHAAA! WITH SONGS THEY HAVE SANG FOR A THOUSAND YEEEARS!MY FEELS ARE ALIVE WITH ALINA & THE DARKLINGG!MY HEART WANTS TO SING EVERY SONG IT IS!

Still on page 1. I've been taking photos of the book for the last 15 minutes. IT'S NOT MY FAULT LEIGH'S BOOK ARE AESTHETIC GOALS ALRIGHT?!
