i think the oldest daughter got her period but its hard to be sure from the letters. if so, its sad that they felt the need to be so secretive abt it even in letters! and she isnt even supposed to tell her sister! ik thats how it was in the olden days but it still makes me sad

i love all their daughters' spelling mistakes in english. one of them spelled daughter as 'dorter' and it made me think of theresa giudice
