Question: Do you NEED to listen to music to help you read? While I CAN read, I find my pace is slower and harder for me to get into. I listen to Classical or Classical lo-fi, and I enjoy/understand the books better. (I can’t do any with lyrics…my adhd brain can’t compute)

What about you?

˜”*°•.˜”*°•ꩇׁׅ݊ꪱׁׅɑׁׅ֮ •°*”˜.•°*”˜ i personally can NOT listen to music whilst reading. my brain will compute the words i’m reading to the beat of the song and i will not understand what i actually read.
now it doesn’t have to be silent, background noise is okay like tv shows that i don’t watch or having white noise nearby.
classical music worked once for me but it didn’t last long. sometimes i put on rain/storm sounds and it helps.

LadyOkiLoki Oh no I couldn’t do lyrics, I can’t even have someone speaking in a show 😩😩😩 I need some melody that’s calming. That’s awesome you can have a show in the background, my brain could never focus on what I’m reading 😭😭😭😭

I am a mood reader. Sometimes i listen to the playlist assing, other times i put Ocean --nature sounds on Youtube. However 75% of the time i can read with noise or without. Usually i DNF books i have to put effort to read.

LadyOkiLoki I never force myself to read. I’m also a mood reader and open a book and after a chapter I’m like nahhhh I’ll return to this. I try very hard not to DNF, I give them a second chance and regroup because I wasn’t in the right mood. I pick up every sound if there’s no music playing and hard for me to focus
