Holy moly... To immediately jump into this is so daring! Get ready for one of the queen of angst: Meatbun!Her novels have been perhaps some of the most painful reads! Lots of melodrama, insane reveals, heartbreaking characters... Everything! Hope this helps you enter the world of INCREDIBLE danmei! You won't regret it!

This story is 80% or more gloomy. It's very painful. Worth it at the end! But yeah... Others will seem less painful after you've read this. Unless you want to read more Meatbun, Shen Qian Cheng, and many more angst authors. If you want to cry, I gotchu.
if u dont like it thou, dont give up on danmei! meatbun is its own genre. there is a plate for every type of palate.

Agreed. There's so many types of danmei! One for every type of genre!
Wuxia, Xianxia, xuanhuan, historical, fantasy, historical fantasy, creamatoriums, dogblood, white moonlight, sci-fi, unlimited flow, mecha, e-sports, modern, horror, tragedy, fluff etc etc etc!
I hope you give them a try! We, here in the danmei community, love geeking out so hard core!
@nel @v i'll be real w yall that's exactly why i picked it LMAO. i've actually tried reading danmei before and it didn't hook and i stopped like 30 pages in. but! its my 2026 goal to actually finish a danmei, soooo here we are :D

Also, depending on what you tried before, it can be hard to get into certain stories because danmei generally, are very very long stories moreso than your average non Chinese or non Asian works.
maybe picking svsss would have been better since its a comedy
