“you have made a place in my heart where i thought there was no room for anything else. you have made flowers grow where i cultivated dust and stones. remember this, on this journey you insist on making. if you die, i will not survive you long.” he gave nynaeve one of his rare smiles. if it did not exactly soften his face, at least it made it less hard.

Stacie I’m a big Nynaeve fan although I know a lot of people despise her. Did you watch the Amazon series by any chance?

same! her and mat are my favourite characters in this series right now. i actually cannot understand why she's so hated when she's one of the most well-written and fascinating characters in the books - it's more annoying because if she was a man, the same things she's hated for would become praised.

i have not watched it yet! a friend really loves it so, it's been on my radar but, yesterday i decided to look at the casting of nynaeve and lan (legit after posting this update) and i was very moved. i think i might start it soon just because of their casting... and the casting for everyone in general is really good, tbh. also, the magic of wot is something that sounds like it would be absolutely beautiful adapted so, i really want to see that.

Stacie I adore Mat!!! His character arc is one of my favorites. And yes, the hate Nynaeve gets is very misogynistic.

Personally I loved the WoT show but it got a lot of hate from some book readers who don't understand how adaptations of novels work. The typical "casting is too woke" BS and "that's not how it is in the book" comments. I actually don't mind when the screen version takes a different direction. The casting was perfection IMO and I was just thrilled to see one of my favorite series on screen. Extremely sad it was cancelled sigh.

I'm enjoying your updates as you go through the novels! Do you think you will plow through all of them or take breaks? I think what helped me was switching back and forth between the ebook and the audiobook.

i was so surprised it was cancelled especially after season 3 received such attention and was generally considered to be really good everywhere. it's ludicrous that stuff like this gets cancelled but, there's a lot of ridiculous tv shows out there still going on. ahh, the complaints seem so annoying. so many good book adaptations get hated on for the most stupid reasons.

thank you so much! i think i could honestly plow through them (at least the next three or so because that's all i've purchased of the series right now) because the ending of each wot book really packs a punch. when i originally read the first three books, i was really hooked after the third book's ending (i couldn't wait to see what happened with the aiel) but, the series is something i would rather have physical copies of and slowly read so, i lost my momentum because i didn't have the fourth book then. now, that i have some of the other books in hand, i think i could binge it!

and yay, i'm very excited for mat's character arc - it's already so good that i can't wait for it to fully unwind! i'm so happy there isn't really a huge public fandom for wot (to my knowledge) because it would ragebait me so much seeing the misogynistic views of many. i remember you telling me you love sansa stark and since asoiaf has quite a large fandom presence, i see hate on her all the time and it genuinely gets my blood boiling. seeing another epic fantasy series with phenomenal women getting bashed on would kill me.
