I wish this were written in Spanish and didn’t do the thing I dislike where non-gringo shit is explained for gringos, uncentering the people it’s written about. The cousin villain is also getting more cartoonishly one-dimensional instead of richer & more complex. The MC continues to surprise me here and there.

I hate this reader for this piece. I want a deep, smooth, soothing, powerful voice reading this SLOW. Hers is fine for other pieces but far too close to shrill, childish, weak, & rushed for what I want. Plus, despite being Latina, she is not Mexican, which feels like treachery to me here.
