Gosh, this is a blast from the past for me. I read the 1st 3 books when I was a teenager and loved them. I fear revisiting them in case they don't live up to expectations

Similar experience here Paul. The Pern books were actually one of those fantasy series that got me interested in reading when i was younger.

I was in a Science Fiction book store in Toronto and saw the series on the shelves
.... Mother adored the books so I thought I would start at the start and see for myself

Well considering you're on the 9th book in the series I would have to assume you are enjoying them.

That might be true I guess. I was thinking of publishing dates...
