Riddle me this, my bookish friends: what's a book that's stayed with you for a long time, months or even years after you've read it? One that you just can't get out of your head because the characters were so indelibly crafted, the plot was so mind bending, the worldbuilding so detailed, or for any other reason?

Too many. :') The Curse of Chalion has been living rent-free in my head for probably almost two decades because it is so perfectly crafted in world, characters, story, everything. I was just thinking about rereading it earlier today.

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch absolutely blew my mind. i e enjoyed his other work as well, but Dark Matter felt revolutionary. that said, his book Recursion managed to make me FEEL what it was like to be immolated in nuclear explosion.

The city we became. NK Jemisin. Each of the NYC borough is embodied by a person and they have to fight a monster. Jersey City becomes the 6th honorary borough, hit close to home haha!

I will always throw The Riftwar Cycle by Raymond Feist into conversations like this because it is the books and series that got me into reading bigger books and brought me back to reading after stopping for a long time. One that will always sit with me is Berserk by Kentaro Miura. The levels/depths in that manga are just insane. It is truly a "perfect" example of trauma and how different people deal with it on their own. While I highly recommend it, it comes with a lot of warnings.

Those books are phenomenal. In my head, I'm already crafting a re-read list for when I retire in 20 years...those books are on it. I can't wait to go back to Midkemia.
