I’m struggling a little to understand what he means with this idea of the Self but I think the concept of how separation works in myths is really neat.
Especially how the difference between male and female works within myth and conceptually. Myth is strangely more grounded than most religion it seems

I like that this gives support to the art is spiritual concept. Coz it is fr fr. And the little anecdotes about how shamans and ritual worked to interpret natural experiences and transform people is so neat.

Okay see now this is super fascinating. I love the idea of myth as an explanation and justification for natural processes that make them more understandable.

Eternity is the present. Hm. This is a very pro “just experience things” message. I’m for it.

What an interesting conversation about dreams as sort of personal myths. It makes sense - they’re personal stories and experiences that we project against societal norms.
And the idea of sin and the serpent as grounding and the necessity of sin to beget life.
Lowkey this makes me feel small and peaceful

It’s fun seeing all of these patterns that Campbell is talking about. Not just with myths but with life which is why it works it’s why into myth. So many things - especially the number thirteen being involved so heavily in US symbolism - feels so intentional now, not just a coincidence of history.

Very interesting. I can agree with what Campbell says about how myth informs on life and the themes and iterations of them shape how we understand experiencing it.
I don’t know that I agree that issues with society are that people don’t have myth anymore. Though I see the point that myth isn’t as directly construed these days.
I also really liked the discussion on how themes change and develop w the times
