Whitaker loves a martyr. While it's obvious that Victor didn't commit this crime, I also wonder if he committed any of them. I wish he was an actual character though. Duchess is super annoying.

A lot of the same elements as the other one I read: neglected kid who thinks they are an outlaw, parent with substance abuse issues, ex con obsessed with construction on his house, kindly cop who looks out for kid, crime committed a long time ago that has consequences decades later, weird names.
