I added a couple of things that felt apropos for today (from when I was digging around in my saved stuff yesterday).

But now in gonna actually be quiet for a bit.

So, during my tenure at Emerge CA (or ECA, for short), I did a lot of bulk stuff because we had 50-60 trainees every years, and then hundreds of alum and thousands of donor contacts.

And I ended up doing a lot of writing out email templates and then using a spreadsheet and a mail merge tool to send “personalized” emails out to tons of folks.

The client we used was… MeteorMail? Mail Meteor? Something like that, because it has a little animation of meteors being launched out when you finally sent the emails.

But everyone on the team always called the mail merges “yams” (e.g., “Okay, we’ll send out a yam about that”).

And I was the newest person for a while, on a small team, so I just went along with it but never really got it.

Finally, months in I asked someone why they called them 🍠s.

Well, I guess the tool they *used to* use had been called “Yet Another Mail Marge”…
a.k.a. YAMM

So now I associate the word/food with mass emails, because of the months I spent being confounded by the question of how the two could possibly be connected…

I’m having a hard time finding more words just yet.

But thank you.

(I’m learning to believe that you’ll stay, but it also try to never rule out that at sooner point you may to go (again) in order to do what you need to take good care of yourself.

I never want to take that for granted, in other words.

So I guess I believe that you will stay if you can, because you want to do that.

But if you can’t stay, if it’s harming you? I cannot discount that as a possibility, and it’s my responsibility to let you go without doing any further harm.

So it still helps to hear it, when you express wanting to be here, and stay.

It means something to me.

Arg it’s so late, my day started weirdly.
