I tried to finish this book and oh boy. The first few chapters really changed the way I saw things, but after that, it became very wishy-washy and spiritual, which I guess makes sense for the type of book it is. Maybe that’s only the middle section and it gets less weird later, but I just couldn’t get past it. I really wanted to like this book, but I think the first few chapters are likely the only ones for me.

Very thought-provoking. I was skeptical at first, but Singer has entirely changed how I perceive the self. I’m curious to learn what is there to discover once one reflects consciousness back on itself, and how Singer proposes one lives in this state since living in society requires interaction and one cannot simply observe.
