In Moonwalking with Einstein, the method of loci and other mnemonic techniques aren’t introduced until later in the book, but what makes the book inspiring is watching a journalist with no background in memorization train himself into a competitive “mental athlete.” His journey from novice to competitor in the USA Memory Championship is fascinating and reveals how trainable memory truly is.
