what a great character Burma Jones is, perhaps some questions here and there but all things considered, so thoughtfully and cleverly written

Was Ignatius really OG Dark Woke all along?

261-277 is a particularly outrageous Ignatius outing. His interaction with Dorian from 265 is hilarious.

“I suspect that beneath your offensively and vulgarly effeminate façade there may be a soul of sorts. Have you read widely in Boethius?… You may skip the Renaissance and the Enlightenment. That is mostly dangerous propaganda… For the contemporary period, you should study some selected comic books.” p.275

Everyone in this book is such a mess, it’s hilarious

Ignatius is so insufferable. Truly, never ceases to amaze how repulsive and repugnant he can be.

He’s at least certainly more well-read and educated, but in many ways reminds me of one Elon Musk. Vastly overstates his own importance and work, while being utterly oblivious of his own shortcomings. So desperately insulting and offensive to everyone else while completely lacking self-awareness.

Ignatius so totally lacks self awareness, it borders on being unbearable. Such an engaging character that perfectly captures the intelligent fool. I have a feeling things will magically, miraculously work out for him, despite his best efforts. He’s book “smart” but so utterly clueless, in part due to his arrogance, which is maybe the most unbearable part.

Characters are excellent, scenery is excellent, very much enjoying. Ignatius is such a chud lol

The scene in the Night of Joy that culminates on 93 stopped me in ny tracks. I read over the last paragraph on 92 three times over
