I think this time I did understand the meaning behind the story (Mothers) but just because of my feminist background and my surface knowledge of Plath's biography. I love the way she narrates so poetically, her descriptions are so vivid and natural...again, I feel sad when the story ends abruptly, I feel the characters were interesting enough for a short novel.

I have this recurring feeling with these stories that I really enjoy them but then I hate or dont understand the ending. Sometimes they feel unfinished, sometimes I feel I'm completely missing the meaning like with the fifty ninth bear.

So far, my favorite stories are Johnny Panic and the Bible of dreams (I wished she had turned it into a long novel, I was fascinated by it) and The Wishing Box. After reading these I somewhat regained my long missed capacity to remember my dreams. The concept of envying someone's imagination resonated deep within me. Some stories feel unifinished (according to the introduction I think they are)
