I love the title (Rungs on the Ladder of Loss) of this chapter so much. I’ll forever love titled chapters.

I read Der Fischer by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and while I am not sure if it have any relevance to this story I’m glad I did. It was beautiful! I really need to start reading Goethe. I wonder if the protagonist biblical name along with the repeated mention of Saturdays will have any importance in the story.
Also, I really, really need to read Moby Dick. It’s getting ridiculous at this point.
