Once again, this book is even better than I remembered.
What especially stood out to me was that the theme of providential hope is so strong. Tolkien wrote such a beautiful tale of long-suffering, even despairing trials, which is pierced by small glimpses of goodness and providence. This is especially visible in Frodo's treatment of Gollum, much to Sam's disgruntlement.
