I was thinking, Alison that if this book would again become a bit of a slog for you, maybe take a break and read “Emposium”? Maybe it would be an additional motivation:-). Emposium is incomparably easier to read. It is much narrower in the scope, but maybe it would be a good appetiser for this one:-). It is just an idea. I liked Mann’s Death in Venice and Dr Faustus has taken me off my feet straightaway. But TMM has defeated me the first time around and won me over only for the second time. So I am just very sympathetic. In any case the reward is big at the end, so keep your faith:-)
