Cognitive ease and strain.
People tend to ease themselves when they perceive things that require less mental effort, using more Sys 1 instead of Sys 2. This is also related to positive feelings at an unconscious level.
If the workload increases (e.g. an illegible font), people would generally use more Sys 2. This strain makes them more aware. And that is somehow related to negative feelings.

People are (usually) quite good at finding cause-consequence relationships between several incidents, and are prone to do so. They were born with this ability.

It is also pretty imprecise. People are used to find such relationships, they even construct nonexistent relationships to explain incidents, though the relationships apparently make no sense.

It could be a thread (maybe multiple threads) running by Sys 1 lol

Human thinks in an associative way. Perceiving concepts can affect a person's intentions, emotions, decisions etc., while they are mostly not aware of it.

Sys 1 undertakes most of this, Sys 2 gives it an explanation.

People are apparently less rational than what they think of themselves.

The author has classified human's thinking methods into two categories—System 1, which is intuitive, fast, and automatic; System 2, which is deliberate, slow, but sometimes powerful and more logical.
Humans tend to use Sys 1 instead of Sys 2 because it consumes less energy. If something can't be done solely under Sys 1, Sys 2 will take over.
The preference of the two systems seems to be related to intelligence.

Interesting.

The information density could be higher though, seems like bestsellers usually choose to not tell a story in a highly densed way.

Yeah, System 1 and System 2 are interesting. Seems like I'm using my System 2 deducting the book just now 😂

Maybe it's because I've just read a bunch of related books?
