Deep breath. Hate the game not the player. I will admit I'm drawn into the premise. It's not poorly written, it's perfect to appeal to a wide (esp American) readership. But every sentence makes me grit my teeth. The author's style reminds me of the Boxcar Children or The Babysitters Club. Which means, yes it's awkward when it gets adult. I've read so (sox5) many better written stories on ao3.com. Also see danmei.
