This is really starting to pick up. Want more Octopus history but starting to worry we aren’t going to get it. Still, the other material is top notch, especially the business about the Scary Disease (TM)

Enjoying this so far. Finding it a little hard to penetrate than Children of Time. In CoT Tchaikovsky had the advantage of the deep time and dozens of chapters to build up one’s understanding of the complex, hyper-alien biological tech of the Portiids, in this one we get dropped in the deep end just as we’re learning to keep afloat. Gonna have to be a patient reader with this one
