I do enjoy the redeeming arc that’s building with Lusa warming up to the family—still doubting and questioning—but finding a place nonetheless. Deanna and Eddie getting closer and being together, addressing some of the elephants in the room (though not resolving them, but progress at least and more emotional intimacy). Garnett, not so resonant with his childish feud and religiosity feeling over the top.

I like the mountain setting and personalities. Plot wise: Deanna’s alright for reflections on isolation, but it’s more sex than substance with her and Eddie. Lusa is best so far with her dealing with loss, but especially her warming to Jewel. Garnett interesting with his old man traditionalism but not in the usual bad way often portrayed. His obsessive frustration with Nannie is fun, but a bit much at times.

Writing is lyrical and descriptive. Mostly introductions so far. Deanna is interesting for her not knowing how to be around people (relatable).

Lots of nature imagery and appreciation, which doesn’t do it for me, but I can respect it nonetheless.

But yeah, nothing really happened so far so it’s hard to judge.
