I've been reading this when on reception during quieter work days, so I might take a bit of time to finish it. It's okay, but I don't love it or dislike enough to get passionate about it. The relationship dynamics are interesting, but there are A LOT of tropes crammed into this book. Gunty's writing style is gorgeous, but the book doesn't seem to be doing what I think would make it a 10/10 page-turner just now, idk?

I've tried my best to read reviews for this book without spoilers; i have succeeded so far! From what I've read, other readers seem to be divided by Tess Gunty's poetic approach to prose, but I'[m here for it.
Yes, the structure is a bit abstract, but Gunty's language is keeping me hooked. I'm invested in Tiffany & James' 'relationship' dynamic - which will (like all these kind of pairings) inevitably end in tears.
