My first step into W40K lit, and also largely into the IP. I'm enjoying it quite a bit. The opening is a fantastic introduction to the growing chaos of the distant future, I genuinely felt lost and that I just had to keep reading for answers. By chapter 6, I'm not so disappointed. Good introduction to not just the characters, but the class system and the Imperium in general. Thought my pace was slow, but I'm fine.

What an ending. There's a lot going on here, and it's worth a re-read in the future. I'm ready to dig in to the next book now, definitely hooked.

Part 2 is an interesting refresher in the middle character development. It immediately shifts to another expedition and a totally different yet budding war. It's all really ramping up though and I'm excited to keep going.
