“Footnotes” by A. K. Benedict:
This was a quick short story, about nine pages, but Benedict made exceptional use of those pages. Incredibly unique premise, loved the incorporation of Celtic mythology (I actually tabbed some pages so I can do more reading on the figures mentioned). The ending made me gasp out loud; looking back, there were hints throughout the story, but it caught me totally by surprise.

“From the Sea” by Charlie Higson:
Love me a good epistolatory short story. Higson establishes the characters well through their emails. I thought the ending was a biiiiit predictable (though given that the characters refer to HP Lovecraft many times, this was the only way the story could have ended) but I loved the media exploration of the ending.
