Look, I really wanted to like this book. It's a mystery set in Alaska - sounds perfect. But it's slower than cold molasses and the MC is unbearable - a self-pitying, alcoholic man who is more than old enough to do better. I think we're supposed to sympathize & I guess many did bc this is first in a series, but even the mystery wasn't enough to make me care. I'm too old to waste reading time. DNF.
