The book begins beautifully, like a classic novel, but then escalates intoextreme hatred and relentless drama. There are no quiet moments, only cruelty, no emotional nuance. I miss the calmer phases and the additional 200 pages that might have given the story room to breathe, allowing the characters space to exhale.
