Michelle passes and “the Kid”, Paul Haynes, and a journalist, Jensen, take over in her stead by inheriting her research. Haynes’ mapping of where EAR may have lived seems very close to where some of my grandparents lived. I’ll know when I research DeAngelo more. But lots of files to pore through and very good writing here.

Going through her research and saying that many different men were the One was an important part to write about because sticking to your first few suspects is like a loving bond that you don’t want to deny because it’s such a strong emotion attached to what you believe is a good catch. Pool lets her down easy because he’s had similar experiences through fingerprint finds but DNA comes back negative.

I really like the interview & tour w/ Paul Holes. The realty / construction site angle is very promising, but I’m not sure about the plane owning part. Just because of the airports in 2 attacks in 22hrs doesn’t account for any others being relevant.

Cruising w/ Paul Holes to various crime scenes is providing great info!

Michelle discovers a Cold Case Files message board and exchanges info. Each police department wants to catch him themselves so they deny knowledge and share nothing. So frustrating. These toxic personalities exist in fields that require constant collaboration. Think of how many criminals still haven’t been caught due to greed. Thankfully there’s digital info but even that doesn’t require sharing.

What a sad story of the Debbi Domingo’s final words to her mom before she & her ex were brutally killed. Another house up for sale too. Sad she was hooked on meth for many years in anguish too. I feel bad for that earlier dog that got cut but luckily survived. I don’t think the hose was for washing blood off though, maybe a distraction, deterrent, or alarm. Some different witness descriptions of brown curly hair

A couple narrow escapes for GSK as neighbors report burglaries and see/hear him. That one slip up being chased by FBI neighbor while on a bike was so close. More linking like w/ Ventura and OC. Why do I have to go back to work?!

DNA linked a couple of murders from the start of the book and the growth of technology is very interesting. I like the Chinese story of the sickle and flies swarming the bloody one to catch the culprit. Janelle had a rough upbringing and definitely got around due to some trauma. The realtor telephone tag was juvenile and the first one should’ve called the cops asap. Brutal murder description & the teeth in her hair

This book is wild. The boys potentially seeing Kathleen’s Indian killer in the alley/neighborhood! Then the EAR history of crimes are scary and everyone in the area closes up & locks down. The Visalia Ransacker almost being caught & shot was intense. Is it him? This is a great book! Had to look up the sketch online & DeAngelo’s Exeter police photo is side by side. He was a cop?!

Very brutal first 2 murders covered and the surviving husband who was in the hospital. the brother had to clean up as there weren’t crews then. I like the author’s reflections on the red carpet and now her family history too. How she is like so many other women obsessed with catching criminals and her work actually led to GSK’s arrest is justice for those many victims.

Really excited to start this one after rewatching the Unsolved Mysteries segment and saw the update on who the Golden State Killer was and he’s been captured. Somehow I missed this on initial release.
