The most humble Russian novel I have ever read. Just a brief slice of life, delightful and touching, and skillfully told. Quite unexpectedly I cried, a tear or two, at the end. I can with complete confidence recommend this book to anyone who likes to read. A masterpiece.

Thank you, Darya!Considering a reread for some reason. Can’t decided on the right translation though.


Just started a reread. I liked the reference to young woman being considered ‘advanced’ because she read ‘Science’ articles in journals.
