Translators note finished
God I was having flashbacks to my linguistics courses reading this… languages are not my forte I’m so glad the translating has been done for me lmao
In some of the examples I have to admit I preferred the previous translations used as examples to be honest…
You get more of a sense of Machiavellis character and perception from reading the intro and translators note though

Really interesting learning about the political situation of renaissance Italy… wasn’t aware of the role of the Spanish and French during this time.

Just read the introduction
Had no clue how much history was in this book… honestly was expecting a type of historical fiction that was a bit further removed but learning about the life of the author really puts it into perspective.
Also reading about the books place in history and how different figures and groups championed or denigrated it is fascinating.
I’m excited to start
