I’ve kind of avoided this one for a long time because I generally prefer the Wolfe books that stay in NY.
I love visiting the brownstone with its routines and seeing Fritz and Cramer and even characters like Purley Stebbins (or at least Archie’s interactions with him🤣); but I must say that I am enjoying the Montana setting, especially now that Wolfe has arrived—and because Lily is here!

He pointed to the framed Declaration of Independence. "'All men are created equal.'"
Woody nodded. "Of course that's great, but it's a lie. With all respect. It's a good lie for a good purpose, but it's a lie."
"Not in that context. As a biological premise it would be worse than a lie, it would be absurd, but as a weapon in a mortal combat it was potent and true. It was meant not to convince but to confound."

"Do you play Scrabble?"
Wolfe shook his head. "I don't play games. I like using words, not playing with them."

"... but how could Who's Who possibly have helped?"
"It couldn't. But when you're up a stump you always try things that can't help and about once a year one does."

Man, I haven't spent time with Archie and Wolfe for WAY too long. Been having massive withdrawals.
