Stacie I agree! I’ve read several novels on jjwxc this way and lots of extras that were never FTL. I do think it helps when you already know the characters and the world

honestly i thought it’d be very crooked and unreadable the same way mtls usually are, but it really is not much of a difference that way. perhaps some proper nouns are butchered but it’s very solid

Mika If there's an English title then there's also an English print, isn't it? I have to agree. I once Google translated something 'cause the only available translation was just gibberish.

it doesn’t really hold for danmei. danmei is still relatively new on the western market. for a long time most novels were only available through fan translations, while official english publications started coming out much later. when a novel gets licensed, the fan translation usually gets taken down. some still circulate, but mostly for extremely popular titles like tgcf, mdzs, or erha. so having an english title doesn’t automatically mean there’s a complete or even accessible official print.

i usually avoid machine translations and stick to novels with at least a finished fan translation, though i have resorted to mtl before as well. in this particular case, only four volumes of the novel have been officially released, and the fan translation ends at the same point. at that stage it’s pretty common for desperate souls to switch to machine translation just to see how it ends. i’m also very much a read it all in one go person, so stopping halfway and waiting between volumes just isn’t for me. i’ve only got 15 chapters left anyway, so i decided not to wait until it gets officially published :D
