This trope is not my favorite: entertainment coming from placing women or girls in danger of rape and death.
However, I am liking it so far. Grace Draven is able to make the setup, which contains elements previously used by Suzanne Collins and Ruby Dixon (and others), feel new by including original twists and details. She is a good writer. The grim tone is entirely suitable to the situation of the MC’s.
