Part 2 Chapter 3 Update: While visiting Raymond’s friend’s beach house, Arthur (our narrator) has shot and killed an Arab man (who had initially followed Arthur, Raymond, and Marie the beach to avenge his sister’s mistreatment) on the beach, despite the man only having a knife. Then he spent 5 months in prison (in which his biggest yearn was for women & cigs) for murder and now his actual trail has just begun.

I’m to start chapter 3.
1st chapter was the narrator’s pretty deadpan reaction to his moms death and the events that follow when he commutes to his mom’s nursing home, meets the manager of the home, and has her funeral (during which he actually fell asleep at one point)
2nd chapter depicts him the day after the funeral, where he’s back at home & basically continues to go about life as if nothing happened.
