I’m mostly enjoying this, but the author doesn’t know how a dowry works and it’s really distracting every time it’s brought up, because it really changes the function of the word in a weird way. Also too much telling and not enough showing. Keep hoping it will improve, but it reads a bit like a debut novel, which it is not.
