Gripping and richly complex. Three interwoven narratives fold into a multigenerational mystery. I just found out that I missed the family tree diagram, so should have chosen a physical copy over the audiobook. The Murray River breathes through the novel, its red gums and slow currents in the Barmah Millewa Forest creating atmosphere. It appealed deeply to the geographer in me.
