Hate to say it but this one is a DNF. I’m not sure what I expected, but this is essentially a (mostly) presidential history from Lincoln onward with focus on the Republican party’s history. It was a LOT (too much) of information to retain via audiobook, and so many primary source quotes that Richard’s narration was constantly punctuated with emphatic pauses. I enjoy history, but not US presidential history.

Also, this is not a bad book. If you like US political history, maybe this is one for you. I think I was expecting a less-vast array of characters and less about each president, and more on maybe the political-socio aspect of Republicanism? I feel like that came through on the Lincoln’s chapter but kind of got increasingly muddled the longer the book went.
