Maybe unpopular opinion but I am a Heathcliff and Cathy sympathizer. Are they awful people? Yes. Do they deserve each other? Yeah they’re actually perfectly toxic for each other.
Both are the product of societal expectations and prejudices. It’s possible to be simultaneously a victim and abuser. Cathy and HC are both. I still ache for them though 😭

Reading this book has made me realize that I am, in fact, the problem. I love messy. I love red flag characters. I’m eating up the drama and toxicity like it’s my last meal and loving every moment of it.
