YALL I CANNOT WHY IS EVERYONE "SNIFFING??" From about the first third of the book, suddenly all actions that might show emotion are replaced with "sniffed." I cannot overemphasize How. Much. Sniffing.
Also, there were "globs of spit" on a straw. Eyes "stretched too wide" in confusion, then "reshaped in understanding." I feel like the author just started using autocomplete or something, this book is fallllling apart.
